Over the past 25 years, Robin Hogen has helped to manage the corporate reputations of some of the most respected companies in America, including United Technologies, Merck, Fisher Scientific, and Purdue Pharma. His analytical, creative, and leadership skills have helped these companies deal with major crises, achieve and celebrate important milestones, expand into new markets, and gain competitive advantage.
Robin's expertise spans a broad range of disciplines, from media relations to issue advertising and from internal communications to strategic philanthropy. Always cool under fire, he is able to quickly develop and implement creative solutions to complex, high-stakes problems. Robin is also effective at recruiting and mentoring talented colleagues.
Among his many accomplishments, Robin created:
- A 10 Point Plan to reduce prescription drug abuse, which successfully deflected calls by public officials and the press to ban Purdue's $2 billion product (OxyContin®).
- The first corporately funded institute dedicated to improving the quality of K-8 science teaching in public schools (The Merck Institute for Science Education).
- The nation's first communications and education program aimed at combating the growing problem of prescription drug abuse among teens (http://www.painfullyobvious.com).
His efforts have garnered a number of major awards, including:
- The Larry Wein Prize for Social Responsibility — for Merck.
- Two Telly Awards and a Platinum Award from PR News — for public service TV commercials on prescription drug abuse.
- The Heart of Gold Award — for Purdue's corporate citizenship.
Robin is an active graduate of Yale University and Phillips Academy.
